Six key employment law changes in April 2016

SM&B’s summary of the six key changes to employment law coming into force in April 2016:

• Introduction of the National Living Wage for workers aged 25 and over
• Financial penalties for unpaid tribunal awards and settlements
• Limits imposed on tribunal postponements
• Public-sector employees can be required to repay exit payments
• Abolition of employer National Insurance Contributions for apprentices under 25
• Increase in tribunal award limits and statutory payments
