SM&B partner Razwana Akram has been advising Marsha Rowe and Rosie Boycott, the original founders of feminist magazine “Spare Rib”, on how to protect their intellectual property rights.
Spare Rib was founded in 1972 and closed in 1993. Journalist Charlotte Raven proposed to re-launch the magazine online. In “Spare Rib was born of grassroots feminism. It’s not a brand” (The Guardian, Friday 14 June 2013) Marsha Rowe explains why they challenged Charlotte Raven’s plan.
