Martin Soames and Erica Henshilwood achieve successful result for The Random House Group

6th February 2019

Martin Soames and Erica Henshilwood, in SMB’s Media: Content and Disputes team, have represented The Random House Group Limited in successfully defending the meaning of its book, The Spider Network.

The book is an account of the global Libor scandal. Nicklin J agreed that The Random House Group’s case on meaning largely captured the sting of what readers would understand the book to be saying about the Claimant, and rejected the Claimant’s pleaded meaning.

This is an important victory for the publisher. Nicklin J’s judgement can be read here.
