SM&B’s employment law news roundup including:

– The EAT hold that a failure to contact Acas prior to issuing a tribunal claim will result in the claim being rejected even though there are serious allegations of discrimination and physical assault.
– A number of employment-related measures were announced in the Queen’s Speech at the opening of Parliament on 27 May 2015, many of which will see legislation brought forward in this current parliamentary session.
– The Government have published The Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2015, bringing three employment provisions in the Act into force from 26 May 2015.
– HM Treasury have confirmed that redundancy payments for public sector workers will be capped below six figures as part of the Enterprise Bill announced in the Queen’s Speech.
