Employment Law Weekly News Update

SM&B’s weekly news update including:

• The High Court decides that an employer was not vicariously liable for the managing director’s brutal attack on an employee at an impromptu drinking session three hours after the firm’s Christmas party had finished.
• The EHRC have produced new guidance for employers on religion or belief in the workplace designed to help managers to navigate their way through the issues and decide the appropriate steps they should take.
• The Government Equalities Office has launched a new online tool that allows the public to find out the gender pay gap for their occupation using the latest data from the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings.
• Around one in 8 people who have attended a work Christmas party admit to kissing a colleague and one in 14 have embarrassed themselves, according to new polling published by the TUC.
