Employment Law Weekly News Update – 4 April 2019

In this edition:

• The EAT rules that an ET erred in rejecting a reasonable adjustment claim by an employee with ulcerative colitis who was not provided with a dedicated parking space as there was no focus on the anxiety she suffered.
• An ET finds that direct discrimination because of sexual orientation occurred when a lesbian employee was told not to make her sexuality common knowledge as the owner of the business was ‘old school’.
• Two regulations have been published amending the Agency Worker Regulations from 6 April 2020 to require written pay-related information to be provided to workers and abolishing the Swedish derogation.
• The Equalities Office issues guidance for employers on the evidence-based actions they can take to support women to progress, to help to close the gender pay gap and increase gender equality in the workplace.
